Insulated steel doors are the common choice in Los Angeles for west-facing garages, where an uninsulated door turns the garage into an oven.
Safety: Old doors are removed with the springs de-tensioned first.
How the job is done
- 1Measure the opening: Opening width and height, headroom, backroom and sideroom are measured to determine the track type.
- 2Choose the door: Material, insulation value, window and hardware options are selected with the customer.
- 3Remove the old door: Existing springs are de-tensioned and the old door, tracks and hardware are removed and hauled away.
- 4Install sections and tracks: Panels are stacked and hinged, tracks are plumbed and the spring system is sized to the new door weight.
- 5Balance, seal and test: The door is balanced, weather seal is fitted, the opener is reconnected and safety reversal is tested.
